DLDM 2013 Review

For the first time an Educational Workshop on Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement (DLDM) was organized. The workshop took place in Natal (Brazil) - between the Footwear Biomechanics Symposium and the ISB Congress (3-4 August 2013). The event was jointly organized by Professor Isabel Sacco, Laboratorio Biomecânica do Movimento e Postura Humana da Faculdade de Medicina da USP, University of Sao Paulo (LABIMPH - USP), her team (Cristina Sartor, Alessandra Matias, Ricky Watari, Licia Cacciari) and Axel Kalpen from novel in Munich.

We were pleased to welcome more than 60 participants from South America, mostly from Brazil. The workshop was held in Portuguese and English.

The special highlights were the keynote lectures delivered by Matthew Nurse, Director, NIKE Sport Research Lab, Prof. Deyse Borges Koch, Laboratório de Biomecânica, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) and Professor Dieter Rosenbaum, Director, Movement Analysis Lab, Institute of Experimental Musculoskeletal Medicine, University Hospital Münster who spoke about their long-term experiences in biomechanics research and their findings.

Axel Kalpen and Isabel Sacco & her team explained the sensor physics and biomechanics as well as the scientific software analysis of load distribution measurement and many various applications on the human body.

Besides the scientific part, the DLDM workshop provided opportunity for networking so that participants could talk to each other and make new contacts.
We were very pleased about the positive feedback.
Please also have a look at all impressions of the workshop!

Invitation

DLDM Workshop, Educational Workshop on Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement

in Natal Brazil preceding the ISB Conference

We are pleased to invite you to our two-day educational workshop on the Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement, which will take place in Natal, Brazil, from 3-4 August, 2013.

The workshop is jointly organised by the Laboratorio Biomecânica do Movimento e Postura Humana da Faculdade de Medicina da USP, University of Sao Paulo (LABIMPH – USP), and novel GmbH, Munich. It will be the first of a series of workshops that will be organized in the future during the two years in between the biennial ESM meeting.
The DLDM workshop will be facilitated by Prof Isabel Sacco & her team, School of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo, Dr Axel Kalpen and Peter Seitz, both novel Munich.

A keynote lecture will be presented by Matthew Nurse, Director, NIKE Sport Research Lab. His talk will be entiteled „The Application of Sport Science to Product Innovation“.

The workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday August 3-4, 2013 in the Ocean Palace Hotel in Natal, Brazil. It is designed as a preconference educational course of the XXIV ISB Congress in Natal and will take place right after the Footwear Biomechanics Symposium.

The workshop will provide an excellent learning opportunity and a venue for discussion. The aim of the workshop will be to address methodological and technical issues relevant to the Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement, and to provide an overview of measuring outcomes and analysis. Special focus will be given to analysis software. The workshop will be held in Portuguese and English.

The intended audience consists of researchers and scientists interested in the Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement in Biomechanics. After the workshop every participant will receive a certificate of attendance. Registration is compulsory; the registration fee can be paid either in EUR currency or in Brazilian Reais - all payment details can be found in the workshop flyer.

Prof. Isabel Sacco, Uni Sao Paulo, and Daniela Jírová - Enzmann, novel GmbH will be happy to send you further information on the workshop, and to answer any questions that may arise.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to colleagues who might be interested in attending this educational workshop.

Come and join us in Natal in August 2013.

Yours sincerely,

Keynote Lecture

We are very pleased that Matthew Nurse, NIKE Sport Research Lab has accepted to present the keynote lecture during the workshop. His talk will be entitled „The Application of Sport Science to Product Innovation“. Matthew Nurse has outstanding, long-term experience in biomechanical research, especially sports. With his research conducted at the University of Calgary, Human performance lab he received several awards including the novel award at the ESM meeting 2000 in Munich or Faculty of Kinesiology‘s gold medal for achieving the highest academic average while pursuing an undergraduate degree.

DLDM - Dynamic Load Distribution Measurement

There are a variety of forces that act on the human body, for example gravitation force, dynamic forces through motion, and constraining forces. These forces have different components that can be measured by means of various sensors and technologies.

Combination with the FBS (Footwear Biomechanics Symposium) and ISB 2013 (XXIV Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics), both in Natal.

This DLDM workshop is designed as a preconference educational course of the XXIV ISB Congress and will be held right after the FBS meeting.
